Enjoy a multi-cultural, multi-generational evening exploring the unparalleled creative possibilities of America’s national pastime through the visual arts, music, performance, film and literature.  The Pasadena Public Library will host Touching All Bases: A Baseball Celebration on Friday, October 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Central Library, 285 E. Walnut Street in partnership with ArtNight PASADENA.  This program is co-sponsored by the Baseball Reliquary and the Pasadena Public Library.

Explore a variety of baseball exhibits highlighting baseball in Cuba, the Negro Leagues even Spring Training in Pasadena with a display on the Chicago White Sox 1938 Spring Training.  Meet graphic novel creators, web comic artists and cartoonists who will demonstrate and display their artwork as well as sign books.

Enjoy original songs dedicated to Baseball Greats performed by folk singer and baseball balladeer, Ross Altman.  Sing-a-long with Altman as he presents the Seventh Inning Stretch Baseball Sing-a-long.  Listen to classical hits presented by the Crown City Players.

Experience two solo performances; an excerpt from Secrets of the Samurai Centerfielder and Dodgertown by performance artist Dan Kwong.

View historical moments in baseball captured on film including the 1961 “Dinah Shore Show” featuring Baseball Greats, “5:04 p.m.: A First Person Account of the 1989 World Series Earthquake Game” and Baseball Greats from the Mexican and Latino Baseball History Project at CSUSB.  Hear baseball poetry, memoirs and readings by Michael C. Ford, Holly Prado and Gene Cartwright. 

Enjoy baseball board games and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” crafts for kids of all ages.
