RETURNING LIBRARY MATERIALS
Most materials borrowed may be returned at any Pasadena or Glendale Public Library location.  For your convenience, drive-up book return bins are located outside of each Pasadena Library location. Audio-visual materials (videos, DVD's, compact discs, cassettes) must be returned to the Circulation Desk inside the library.  AV materials being returned to the Pasadena CENTRAL Library can also be returned in the special AV Return bins on the North and South sides of the building.

CHECK-OUT AND RENEWAL OF MATERIALS
Library materials may be checked out for a period of 21 days.  Two renewals per item if there are no holds pending

Materials may be renewed by our automated phone renewal service.  Simply call (626) 356-3914 from your touch-tone phone. Have the barcode numbers from your library card and from the items you wish to renew ready when you call.

Materials may also be renewed in person, by calling any Pasadena Public Library location, or via the Internet through our Library Catalog

Interlibrary Loan (borrowing materials from other libraries)
Before requesting books or articles through Interlibrary Loan, be certain to check the Library Catalog to see if we have the item you are looking for. Still can't find it? Proceed to make an Interlibrary Loan request. A few facts about Interlibrary Loan (ILL):
  1. Interlibrary Loan service is available to patrons who live, work or own property within the city of Pasadena.
  2. In general, ILL requests take 2-3 weeks for items to arrive.
  3. The Pasadena Public Library charges a service fee of $2.00 for each Interlibrary Loan request. The service fee will be charged even if the item cannot be obtained. If there are additional charges from the lending library, ILL staff will notify you before proceeding with the request.
  4. The loan period for ILL material is three weeks and items are not renewable.
  5. Patrons may keep photocopies of articles, they do not need to be returned.
  6. In addition, some audio and video items cannot be obtained for various reasons such as; item is too new, or against the lending library policy to loan audio/visual materials…etc.
  7. Take proper care of borrowed material and return it in good condition. You are liable for any lost or damaged material.

Now, you may begin the process of submitting an ILL request to the Pasadena Public Library.
