    The Pasadena Public Health Department's Vital Records office maintains records of births and deaths that occur in the City of Pasadena.

    NOTICE - Shortage of security bank note paper

    Effective August 11, 2015 - The City of Pasadena Public Health Department and other health departments throughout the State of California are experiencing an unprecedented shortage of security bank note paper on which birth and death vital records are printed for certification. Due to this shortage, the City of Pasadena is temporarily limiting all requests for certified copies of birth and death certificates to one copy per registered event until the Health Department is able to replenish the supply of bank note paper. The limit on copies is effective immediately.  

    If you submitted a request for multiple copies, we will process your request and issue one copy only. You have the option to have your order placed on back order or request a refund of the remaining balance. The City will issue a refund within 45 days of the application date. At this time, the City does not have a timeline for filling back orders as it is subject to the availability of bank note paper. As an alternative, you may request additional certified copies from the State Office of Vital Records.   • Birth Certificates

    Applications are accepted (click on link below for instructions):

    Birth Certificates are $25.00 per certified copy.

    Pursuant to California State Code 103650 the fee for any search of the files and records for a specific record when no certified copy is made shall be paid in advance by the applicant. If a record is not located, the fees for the birth record will be retained as payment for a record search.

  • Death Certificates

    Death Certificates are $21.00 per certified copy.
