Brookside ParkA new safety gate and trash enclosure have been constructed at the park in the historic 'arroyo stone' style in order to enhance the pedestrian experience there.
The concept behind the improvement project on San Gabriel Medians was to help beautify the area through the installation of a drought tolerant demonstration garden in the median while reducing heat island effect. The funding was a joint effort by Pasadena Water and Power and Public Works. Phase One of the project consisted of removing existing concrete pavers and irrigation. The improvements consisted of constructing drainage swales to capture water with accent rocks. Water wise irrigation products were installed to eliminate runoff and reduce evaporation. Phase Two of this improvement will be completed in early Fall when the weather cools down. Public works will install drought tolerant trees and plant materials that will add interest and beauty to the area to complete this project.
