The City Prosecutor prosecutes misdemeanor offenses occurring in the City of Pasadena arising out of violations of State or City law; provides information to citizens on prosecution and procedure; drafts and files criminal complaints in Municipal court; conducts office hearings, pretrial hearings, court and jury trials; represents the People of the State in motions, writs and appeals; and advises and trains law enforcement.

In addition, the City Prosecutor's Office coordinates the Domestic Violence Program (D.V.P.),City Resources Against Slum Housing (C.R.A.S.H) team in abatement and prosecution of slum housing cases and the Nuisance Abatement Program (N.A.P.) to identify drug, prostitution, gang and alcohol related nuisance activity in the community and work with the Police Department and community groups to combat these problems in our city.
