How is
the Vice Mayor elected?
At the organizational meeting on the
first Monday in May, the City Council elects from its members a Vice Mayor. The
Vice Mayor is traditionally selected for two one-year terms. During the Mayor's
absence or disability, the Vice Mayor exercises the powers and performs the
duties of the Mayor. If for any reason the Mayor fails to serve his or her
full term of office, the Vice Mayor shall assume the duties of the Mayor for the
unexpired term.
