A Occupancies

Group Division Description
A 1

Occupancies are buildings or portions of buildings having an assembly room with an occupant load of 1,000 or more and a legitimate stage.

A 2 Occupancies are buildings or portions of buildings having an assembly room with an occupant load less than 1,000 and a legitimate stage.
A 2.1 Occupancies are buildings or portions of buildings having an assembly room with an occupant load of 300 or more without a legitimate stage.
A 3 Occupancies are buildings or portions of buildings having an assembly room with an occupant load of 300 or less without a legitimate stage.
A 4 Occupancies are stadiums, reviewing stands and amusement park structures not included within other Group A occupancies.

 

B Occupancies

Occupancies are buildings, structures, or portions thereof, for office, professional or service-type transactions.  B occupancies include occupancies for the storage of records and accounts, and eating and drinking establishments with an occupant load of less than 50.  Business occupancies shall include, in part:

Animal hospitals, automobile show rooms, banks, barber shops, car washes, laundry and dry cleaning pick-up/delivery stations, educational occupancies above the 12th grade, electronic data processing, fire stations, florists, testing and research laboratories, police stations, post offices, print shops, professional services (attorney, dentist, etc.), telephone exchanges.
