H1N1 Vaccines Available to the Pasadena Community (as of 01-14-10 at 6PM)

Currently in Pasadena—as in many areas of the United States—cases of the H1N1 Pandemic Flu are declining at this time.

However, the Pasadena Public Health Department still encourages everyone to receive the H1N1 vaccine, particularly if you are in one of the high risk groups. These high-risk groups include: pregnant women; people living with or caring for infants under 6 months of age; children and young adults from 6 months through 24 years old; people aged 25 through 64 years who have a chronic health problem or compromised immune system; and emergency medical services personnel and health care workers.

The free H1N1 Vaccine is now available to all community members through the Department’s Immunization Clinic, located at 1845 North Fair Oaks Avenue. For the current walk-in clinic schedule, please contact our Pasadena Public Health Department’s Immunization Clinic at 744-6121. For those outside of the Pasadena area, please contact the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health at 2-1-1 for the nearest available County health center.

HEALTH UPDATE—H1N1 FLU Activity in Pasadena (December 17, 2009)

Currently in Pasadena—as in many areas of the United States— there are isolated cases of the H1N1 Pandemic Flu. However, the number of reported outbreaks of H1N1 Flu in Pasadena has been steadily declining since the beginning of November 2009.  As of December 17, 2009, there have been three severe case of H1N1 Flu in Pasadena that required hospitalization. There have been no deaths resulting from H1N1 Flu. These numbers are far below the H1N1 Flu rates in the State of California and in many other parts of the country, indicating that the risk of contracting H1N1 Flu in Pasadena, at this time, is comparatively low.  

There are no indications that any current or upcoming New Year’s activities in Pasadena will be impacted by H1N1.

Holiday visitors and participants in the Tournament of Roses activities, as well as local residents, should continue to practice good hygiene habits such as covering your cough, washing hands frequently or using hand sanitizer, and avoiding others if you are ill. 

The Pasadena Public Health Department also encourages everyone to receive the H1N1 vaccine, particularly if you are in one of the high risk groups.  These high-risk groups include: pregnant women; people living with or caring for infants under 6 months of age; children and young adults from 6 months through 24 years old; people aged 25 through 64 years who have a chronic health problem or compromised immune system; and emergency medical services personnel and health care workers.

The Department has completed its large-scale public H1N1 Vaccine Clinics in Pasadena for the year. 

If you are a local community member who is in one of the high-risk priority groups and you are still unable to get the H1N1 Vaccine from your local health provider, please contact our Pasadena Public Health Department’s Immunization Clinic at 744-6025.  For all others who are not in one of these designated priority groups but still interested in receiving the H1N1 Vaccine, please contact the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health at 2-1-1 for the nearest available County health center.
