T
he first Lamanda Park Branch opened in 1922, in a small room in Emerson School. The second was at the present site, but was a relocated section of the old library from Raymond & Walnut. The current building, designed by Pulliam, Zimmerman and Matthews, Architects and Planners, was completed on October 14, 1967 and is 6,200 square feet.

Children's Programs

Preschool Storytimes:  Thursdays at 2:30 p.m.
Infant/Toddler Storytimes: Thursdays at 10:30 am [beginning Dec. 13, 2007]
     Short stories, songs, fingerplays, and fun for all children up to 36 months


Adult Programs
Rave Reviews                                                  4th Monday at 2:00 p.m.
Great Literature Discussion Group                     Mondays at 11:00 a.m.
Lip Reading & Memory Enhancement               Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. (September through May)

Lamanda Park Collection

The branch has approximately 51,000 items. The juvenile collection is strongest in the areas of picture books, folktales, and American history. The adult collection includes mysteries and a good basic collection of popular fiction. There are special sections for reference materials, large type books, and books on tape. The branch also has a small Spanish collection for children and adults.


Meeting Room

The meeting room with tables and chairs will accommodate up to 34 people. This room is free to groups who do not charge an admission fee or restrict admission on the basis of membership.


Special Features

Lamanda Park Branch has two long standing special programs for adults. The Great Literature Discussion Group is a book discussion group that reviews different literary selections. The art of lip reading is taught by a memory enhancement instructor from Pasadena City College on Wednesdays, fall through spring.

Lamanda Park Branch Library is pleased to offer free wireless Internet access to patrons with appropriately equipped wireless devices. A valid Pasadena Library Card and PIN are required to access the library's wireless Internet services. School Services
In the 2005-2006 fiscal year, Lamanda Park Branch provided 325 programs for children with 12,040 attendance. Of these, 140 were class visits with 3,046 total attendance. The branch also has public computer workstations and a homework reference collection.
