1.May I use these images for my own web page?
Internet Images are available for personal, non-commercial use. Please include the
following credit line wherever an image is used: COURTESY, PASADENA PUBLIC LIBRARY.
2. How do I find out what other photos
are at the Pasadena Public Library?
Due to the fragile nature of the vast majority of our historic images, photographs are
viewed in the Library by appointment only and may not be photocopied or scanned.
Please call the Library at
(626)744-4066, option 7, and describe the kinds of photos you are
seeking, how you intend to use them, and what your deadline for obtaining prints is.
For a general description of our photograph collection, see Photograph
Collection of the Pasadena Public Library.
3. What use fees are charged by the Pasadena Public Library?
The following charges are use fees only and do not include the costs of a print.
Commercial Use: A fee of $20 per photograph will be charged for each
one-time use in films, publications, posters, or any other type of for profit use.
Private Use: A fee of $5 per photo will be charged for use in any format
which will not be sold or used for commercial gain.
Negative Use: When the Library has an existing negative, a fee of $5 per
negative will be charged in addition to the commercial or private use fee. If the Library
does not own a negative, you will be asked to pay the photographer directly for an
archival quality negative which the Library retains. You are helping preserve the
collection.
These charges are payable to the Library at the time an order is placed.
4. How much do prints cost?
To some extent, the final cost will depend on the size print you want, if there is fragile
material to be copied by the Library's designated photographer, and whether or not your
request needs rush handling or shipping.
For example, current charge for an 8 x 10 print is $20. If the Library does not own a
negative, there will be an additional $15 charge for the negative. California sales tax is
also applicable.
All charges for photographic reproduction work
are paid directly to the Library's designated photographer.
Remember to figure into your total
reproduction costs both the Library's fees and the photographer's charges for each
photo you order.
5. How do I place an order?
An order may be placed at the time of your appointment or you may order a print of one of
the digitized photos by calling the Library or e-mailing us at dmclaughlin@cityofpasadena.net
Whenever a print is ordered, the Library will
ask you to sign an agreement form.
6. May I bring my own camera or video
equipment into the Library and copy the photos myself?
Yes. However, you must make an appointment in advance and bring any additional equipment
you may need, such as a copy stand or lights. Use fees will still be charged.
