Volunteer at the Library
In order to maintain high quality service and manage the high volume of activity at all ten library locations, the Pasadena Public Library has an established volunteer program, designed to save tax dollars and use staff time effectively. The volunteer program allows citizens to participate in the spirit of public cooperation by giving the library the benefit of their many skills and talents.

Through the public's generous support, the Library Foundation's original mission of restoring the Central Library building and maintaining the preservation in pristine condition has been met. The building continues to be one of Pasadena's civic treasures housing a library collection of over 800,000 volumes and offering world-class library service to our residents.

Over the past eight years, the Pasadena Public Library Foundation has, in addition to maintaining the restoration of the Central Library building, funded the following extraordinary projects:

  • Computer furniture to house computer workstations in Reference and the Children’s Room
  • Restoration of a new public room off of the Great Hall to create the Technology Learning Center
  • Custom furniture to house the Library’s On-Line Catalog, in the Great Hall
  • Custom furniture to house the two self-check stations mounted into the wall of the south entrance to the Great Hall
  • Replacement of the cork flooring in the Great Hall
  • Restoration of the Patio offices and creating space for a Young Adult Room
  • Refinishing the Great Hall
  • New Central Library elevator

Please contact the library's Administration Office to learn more about how to make a financial donation to the Pasadena Public Library Foundation.
