Volunteer Coordinator Christine Reeder stated that "our over 250 Library Volunteers volunteered more than 17,000 hours last year and the number of volunteer hours will increase this year. Library volunteers, throughout the system, are music to our ears as they work in concert with library staff to provide excellent service to our many customers". After the buffet supper and in keeping with the music celebration theme for the party, the volunteers were entertained by a 48 piece orchestra, the Crown City Chamber Players under the direction of Roberta Wilcox. The program, conducted by Marvin Neumann, included: Light Cavalry Overture by Franz von Suppe, Overture to Demophon by Johann Christoph Vogel, Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor by Ludwig von Beethoven and Suite No. 2 from Carmen by Georges Bizet. The orchestra donated its services in honor of the volunteers. Many of the volunteers commented after the concert, "the concert was absolutely wonderful and the Great Hall is a magnificent place for a concert".
