 Metamorphosis @ Your Library Teen Summer Reading Club Pasadena Public Library Saturday, June 21 – Sunday, August 17 Hey teens (grades 7-12) -- want to know how to easily win prizes this summer? Read! Every time you finish a book, a magazine, comic book, graphic novel, manga or audio book, simply stop by a Pasadena Public Library site, pick up and fill out a prize entry slip with a bit of information about you and the book and drop it into a prize box. If we pull out your name during our weekly drawing, you win a prize! Everyone is entered into the end-of -summer grand prize drawing. Prize drawings start the week of July 7. Prize winners so far are: Central Library’s programs are designed for those in grades 7-12. For more information, contact Teen Services (626) 744-4766. Try It @ Your
Library programs are a special part of our club this year. These
special workshops are week-long events, allowing you to do really
unusual things, from designing a T-shirt to programming a robot. You
need to sign up in advance, because class sizes are very limited. Teens
who register and attend the whole workshop will be eligible for special
prize drawings, too! Here's a list of the events: |

U Design It
will let you design a T-shirt, including printing your design onto the
fabric the professional way. Instructors from the Armory Center for the
Arts will be on hand to instruct and assist.

The Eyes Have It: Film Workshop Here's your chance to create your own short film from start to finish, including theme development, film shooting and final editing. Instructors from the Armory Center for the Arts will be on hand to assist you. This event will be at the Santa Catalina Branch, (626) 744-7272, July 28- August 2, 2:30 - 4:30 pm

Dance, Dance Evolution You may have played a game about dancing, but can you really dance? Learn a variety of moves from hip hop, stomp and salsa to African dance. Then strut your stuff at the grand finale where you'll have the chance to show off a one-minute dance that you've choreographed yourself. Dance instructors will be on hand to help you. Robots! Learn about robots and how to program
their movements. At the end of the session you and your robot will
participate in a special robot obstacle course showcasing your robot and
what it can do. This program will be directed by friendly scientists
from JPL. This event will be at Hill Avenue Branch, (626) 744-7264, July 28 - August 1, 2 - 4 pm

Fast Food Fixings is your
chance to learn how to fix food that's both tasty and healthy, with the
help of chefs from the community. You'll even get to help cater an event

Computer Smart & Money Smart is a special online
workshop which will teach you about banks, loans, credit, savings and
checking accounts. You must attend an orientation meeting, then you can
finish the workshops on your own in one of our computer labs. The
orientation meetings are: La Pintoresca Branch Computer Lab, July 23 at 2 pm Central Library, Technology Learning Center, August 11 at 3 pm or 7 pm |
