STUDENT EXHIBITION AT
CITY HALL
December 15 - May 31
On Saturday, December 15, from 3- 5 pm,
the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Arts & Culture
Commission will hold an opening reception for the
student art wall in the newly renovated Pasadena City
Hall.
Sponsored by the City and the Pasadena
Arts & Culture Commission, the student art wall displays
artwork by approximately 30 Pasadena Unified School
District students ranging in age from Kindergarten
through grade 12. The exhibition is the second in
this year’s series and will run from December 15 through
the end of May, 2008. A panel of Arts Commissioners
and community arts experts chose the artwork from the No
Boundaries PUSD student art exhibit that was held at the
former Homestead House on Colorado Boulevard this past
June.
Entitled Bridging Boundaries: Student Art
Connecting the Pasadena Community, the student art wall
exhibition demonstrates the City of Pasadena’s
commitment to a collaborative alliance between PUSD, the
City and Pasadena’s plethora of arts and culture
organizations. Furthermore, Bridging Boundaries
illustrates the City’s enduring efforts to accomplish
the goals of access and equity as outlined in the
Cultural Nexus Master Plan, specifically, “supporting
the efforts of the community’s arts and education
providers.”
Located directly adjacent to the City
Council Chambers, Bridging Boundaries represents the
City’s recognition of the importance of the arts in
Pasadena’s public schools.
To further underline Pasadena’s
commitment to arts education, the City and the Arts &
Culture Commission plans to install Bridging Boundaries
as an on-going exhibit that will display new student
artwork approximately every 6 months. |
