Police Reserves

Perhaps you have always wondered what it would be like to be a Police Officer, but…Don’t want to be a Full-Time Police Officer. Or perhaps you want to try the job out before making a lifetime commitment. Perhaps you have wondered what it would be like to work the Rose Parade or Rose Bowl Football Game…Or know what it is like to do what you’ve seen on “Cops”. Perhaps you can only give a few hours a week as a “part-time” Police Officer.

Then becoming a
RESERVE POLICE OFFICER may be the job for YOU!

Reserve Police Officers attend a 6-month part time Police Academy, generally two nights a week (4 hours each night) and a full day on Saturday or Sunday (8 hours). The department pays for the Academy and your equipment.  Upon graduating the police academy, you start a Field Training Program, which roughly mirrors the Academy (16 hours per week), after which, you will become a Level II Reserve Police  Officer.

As a Level II Reserve Police Officer, you will virtually do everything a full time police officer does, except you will always be with a fully trained police officer as a partner.  You will see what it is like to respond to emergency calls, catch criminals, lend a helping hand when needed, or chat with children as a role model in society.

There are also opportunities to make some extra money from time to time once you have fulfilled your monthly hourly requirements.

We also encourage those of you who have completed a Basic Academy to apply to become a Level I Reserve Officer.  Sorry, at this time, we will not send Reserve Officer Applicants to a Basic Academy.
