The Pasadena Police Department, established in 1886, has a long and distinguished  history of providing quality service to the community and being a leader in providing police services.

From being one of the first police departments in the country to having a female police officer, to pioneering the creation of a Citizens Police Academy, the Pasadena Police Department has been serving as a model to other police agencies throughout the country.

Today, the Pasadena Police Department remains at the forefront in delivering police services.  It is recognized worldwide for its outstanding planning and implementation of policing for high profile events such as the Rose Bowl, Rose Parade, Super Bowl, and World Cup Soccer.  It has established community policing programs proclaimed as national models and it is one of the first municipal police departments in the State of California to deploy a Computer automated Crime Analysis system.  The Pasadena Police Department has created a Field Training Officer (FTO) program that is one of the most recognized in Southern California, while the department’s Helicopter Section provides training and service to other police air support units in and outside of this country.
