Mission
The
mission of the Special Enforcement Section is to reduce violent street
crime, with a focus on our community’s youth, through the strict
monitoring, arresting, and prosecuting of those groups or individuals
who may cause such crimes to occur.
The Special Enforcement Section will perform collateral duties
as the police department’s tactical team and establish itself as the
leader in mutual aid for the allied agencies of Area “C”.
To accomplish this mission, the section utilizes high visibility
patrols, ground surveillances and at times undercover narcotics buys.
Within the section are subunits, which have specific missions
to assist with these efforts.
Gang Unit
The
Gang unit is responsible for gathering intelligence and monitoring the
gang cultures in Pasadena. This
is accomplished by creating strong partnerships with the community,
social agencies and other law enforcement entities. The mission of the Gang Officers is to eliminate gang
violence, with special interest in eliminating youth violence
citywide, and to prevent gang activity from occurring through
intervention, prevention and enforcement activity.
Community Law Enforcement And Recovery (C.L.E.A.R.) Task Force
The mission of the CLEAR Program
is to identify, track, arrest and incarcerate violent career criminals
and gang members whose continued criminal activity poses a threat to
public safety in the Pasadena/Altadena area.
The team accomplishes this mission through high visibility
patrols, surveillances, informant information, undercover operations,
and follow up on unsolved cases.
The CLEAR team is a multi-agency task force that enhances
its’ capabilities through a coordinate and cooperative effort.
The team is made of two Pasadena Police Officers, two Los
Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies (Altadena Office), one Pasadena
Probation Officer, and one attorney from the Los Angeles County
District Attorney’s Gang Unit.
Neighborhood
Enforcement Team (NET)
The mission of NET is to
concentrate on creating a NET-work of community residents who are our
direct link to the problems of a neighborhood.
The officers assigned to this sub-unit can concentrate on
problem locations within the community and work directly with other
specialized teams such as the Neighborhood Action Team (NAT), Patrol
Division, Code Enforcement and the City Prosecutor to help reduce
neighborhood problems.
Tactical
Team
The Special
Enforcement Section has been tasked with coordinating and responding
to tactical situations. All members of the section receive extensive specialized
training and utilize specialized weapons.
The section is the tactical arm of the department’s Critical
Incident Response Team (CIRT). They
conduct special operations such as high-risk search warrants,
barricaded suspects, active shooters, and instances of civil unrest.
