“SHARPS” DISPOSAL WILL BE SAFER, EASIER
With safe and responsible disposal as its goal, the city of Pasadena
introduces a new and convenient service for residents who require
certain at-home medical treatments.
Along with medical advances come “sharps” – needles, syringes and
lancets –used by many residents in their homes. Disposal of this type of
growing, hazardous medical waste, however, has become an urgent concern.
Proper disposal of used sharps helps the trash collection workers and
the public avoid accidents and possible exposure to infectious diseases.
Beginning Friday, Aug. 1, free one-quart Sharp Waste recycling
containers will be available at Pasadena Public Health Department, 1845
N. Fair Oaks Ave. Each container comes with a set of instructions for
proper packaging and a return box for mailing when full. Disposal is
provided by Pasadena’s Public Health and Public Works departments.
Supplies are limited. To reserve a container call (626) 744-6004. |
