We are proud of the accomplishments that took place within our program in such a short period of time. Since March of 2004 staff has learned the needs of the community they serve and began to develop appropriate and innovative approaches to enhancing our project.  With on-going learning we continue to work progressively in an effort to achieve our long-term goal of helping children grow up healthy and remain healthy with the help of immunizations.

An overall snapshot of MII progress is demonstrated through the achievements of milestones for three short-term objectives related to Women Infant and Children (WIC) Black Infant Health (BIH) and Health Insurance (HI).  Staff working with WIC program established a good relationship with WIC program staff and clients enabling highly progressive trust and interactions.  During this reporting period staff reviewed and entered 1062 immunization records into LINK at 5 provider’s offices including WIC.  Cumulatively staff served 745 children ages 0-5 and 381 families with children ages 0-5 and conducted 132 follow-up calls.

Staff working with BIH put great efforts in implementing a standardized communication tool to share intervention information with BIH staff.  In doing so staff reviewed 94 BIH client files and assessed 75 client charts to determine the up-to-date rates of children ages 3 5 7 13 16 and 24 months and provided outreach to 191 children ages 0-5 and 154 families with children ages 0-5.  In addition staff conducted 4 presentations and participated in 5 community events to help raise immunization awareness.

Lastly staff working with HI completed and conducted the needs assessment survey with 20 Latinos participants of the Health Insurance program. Important and useful information were garnered to help us design and implement an effective and culturally appropriate program.  Staff has also established good working relationships with collaborating agencies such as Young and Healthy Mother’s Club and Head Start.   For this reporting period we provided services to 201 children ages 0-5 154 families with children ages 0-5 outreached at 4 community events and conducted 5 Parent Notebook presentations.
