Tuberculosis (TB) Control
The Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic is primarily responsible for the treatment and control of TB disease as well as prevention of TB transmission in the community.
Patients with TB disease receive:
► A medical check-up by a doctor who specializes in pulmonary lung diseases ► Chest X-ray ► Close follow-up "case management" by a Public Health Nurse (PHN) throughout the course of treatment ► Prescribed medicine ► Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) by trained staff
Case management is a process that coordinates resources and referrals for patients to support them in appropriately managing their TB disease.
Under Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), clinic staff assists patients with taking prescribed medicines to treat TB disease by directly observing them take their medicines. This helps to ensure compliance so the correct dose is taken at the correct time, for the entire course of treatment.
The goal of DOT is to prevent: 1. Development of drug resistance and 2. Transmission of infection or disease.
Clinic hours: Monday thru Thursday afternoon 1:15pm –
4:30pm and Tuesday thru Thursday mornings 8:15am – 10:45am
To make an appointment call (626) 744-6024.
