Community, Family & Youth Engagement Workgroup

The vision of the MAP Campaign: Charting a Course for Our Healthy Future is:

“The greater Pasadena area is a healthy, thriving community

that values and promotes overall wellness.”

Community members at the Action Planning Summit, December 2, 2005

To fulfill this vision of a healthy, thriving community, the MAP Community, Family & Youth Engagement Workgroup seeks to engage all community members to take part in creating a healthier community by providing overall support for families, youth and communities as they lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.  Our action plan focuses on:

  • Developing programs focused on engaging and connecting residents of the greater Pasadena community.

  • Creating opportunities for youth to become involved in civic activities and issues.

  • Developing programs focused on strengthening families.

  • Encouraging residents to become involved in all aspects of the MAP process.

During community visioning conversations which developed the MAP Campaign, our youth were particularly vocal, emphasizing the need to be valued and involved as members of the community.  Their passion and enthusiasm for getting involved in the community inspired the workgroup to take immediate action by involving youth in the Pasadena Neighborhood Summit on May 13, 2006

The Pasadena Neighborhood Summit is an opportunity for youth to make a difference in their future by engaging in discussion, problem-solving and planning alongside adults on important issues such as:

  • Housing,

  • Education,

  • Jobs, and

  • Disaster Preparedness.
