Program Activities u Community Service Representatives educate organizations, parent groups and caregivers sites about lead poisoning prevention.
u Public Health Nurses provide case management for children and their families affected by lead poisoning.
u Environmental Health Specialists identify sources of lead poisoning through sampling and testing, provide advise on lead-safe painting and remodeling, and enforce ordinances for lead safe work.
u In addition to working directly with those at risk for lead poisoning, the program also provides information and assistance to primary care providers who care for children.
Our Goals The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program aims to create:
u An informed public able to protect children from lead exposures.
u Strong infrastructure and partnerships with local government agencies, community organizations and the private sector to prevent lead exposure.
u A system to appropriately screen all Pasadena children for lead poisoning.
u Prompt identification and treatment for lead-poisoned children and environments.
u Knowledgeable medical provider community conscientious in their legal responsibility to counsel and screen children in their practices for lead poisoning.
