    Mission Statement

    The Pasadena Department of Public Works preserves, maintains, and enhances the City’s infrastructure and natural resources and provides environmental stewardship for the benefit of our residents, businesses, and visitors.

  • Animal License Information

    On July 1, 2013, the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA (PHS) became responsible for licensing Pasadena’s dogs. To obtain a license, dog owners must bring their dog’s license application and rabies certificate directly to PHS, 361 South Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105. The agency is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, and is closed on Mondays.

    Effective July 1, 2016, annual dog license fees are $16.54 for spayed/neutered dogs and $76.54 for unaltered dogs.

    E-waste/Document Shredding events scheduled for the following date:

    Upcoming E-Waste/Document Shredding events is scheduled for Saturday,
    March 18, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Rose Bowl Stadium - Parking Lot I

    E-waste items include computers, keyboards, printers, monitors, laptops, docking stations, scanners, shredders, fax machines, computer mice, telephones, televisions, flat screens, VCRs, DVD players, PDAs, cassette players, tape drives, stereos, household batteries and CFL bulbs. Many of these products have parts that can be recycled.  

    Document shredding is limited to a maximum of five legal-size boxes of documents for shredding.

    On July 18, 2016, the Pasadena City Council voted to ban the sale and distribution of polystyrene disposable food service ware within Pasadena.

    The polystyrene food packaging ordinance (PMC 8.67) took effect on August 22, 2016 at City facilities and operations. Twelve monthly later on August 22, 2017, the ban will apply to Pasadena businesses and organizations. The polystyrene food packaging ordinance (ban) will prohibit all food providers in Pasadena from dispensing prepared food in polystyrene food service containers. The purpose of the ban is to reduce polystyrene litter and encourage the use of containers that can be readily recycled or composted or that decompose within landfilled.

    Styrofoam Ban Flyer 



    Effective April 1, 2014, the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Ordinance (PMC Chapter 8.62) requires that certain construction and demolition projects divert at least 75% of waste either through recycling, salvage or deconstruction.

    The construction and demolition application must be approved prior to hauling any C&D debris. Failure to submit this application for approval and to comply with any provision of the C&D Waste Management Ordinance may result in forfeiture of the performance security deposit
