PNR CALENDAR 2008

December

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
There are no events scheduled for the month of December.

Newly Completed Projects
Hahamongna Watershed Park has 34 new picnic tables and 17 new BBQ's for your enjoyment!  Come relax in our new picnic areas under the majestic oaks of Hahamongna Watershed Park. New picnic areas have been created throughout the park for both small and large groups.  Reservations for group picnic areas can be made through the city's Park Permit office at 744-7195.
Neighborhood Tree Planting: This month, 11 trees were planted by 32 volunteers in the Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association area. The eight Quercus agrifolia (Coast Live Oak) and four Quercus virginiana (Southern Live Oaks) were planted on Chester, Michigan Avenues, and Claremont Street. The Oaks were up-graded from the 15 gallon tree size to a 24” Box tree size by Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association. Additionally 9 more Oaks were up-graded by the association and will be planted in early 2009!
Villa Park Field Renovation: The softball field has been aerified, seeded and fertilized and is now open to the public! The Multi-purpose field was recently renovated as well.  All prep work, including sod cutting old turf, roto-tilling, and grading was performed by City crews.
Renovation of Off Leash area @ Vina Vieja Park: Both the northern and southern ends of the large dog off-leash area have been planted with new sod and are now open and being enjoyed by humans and canines!
Brookside Park Improvements: This past month, the City Parks Crews both secured the area and improved the aesthetics of the “J” East area parking lot.  The site had been overgrown with weeds and was a common area for illegal dumps & spoils.  All materials were gathered on site and no additional expenses were incurred to the City budget.
Projects Underway
East Holly Street Tree Beautification Project: Parks and Forestry staff are currently working to replace aged and declining Carob trees on East Holly St. with Mesa Oak trees. The Oaks have been chosen for their desirable characteristics in an effort to beautify the gateway to City Hall.
South Lake Avenue Improvement Project: Construction is underway on newly designed median islands on South Lake Avenue.  Most irrigation has been installed and the crews will now work to install the electric receptacles for twinkle lights and tree uplights.
Memorial Park Library Signage: Installation is underway on educational signage memorializing the old Pasadena Public Library which once stood at the corner of Raymond and Walnut.
And Coming Soon....
New Brookside Park Trash receptacles; New Arroyo Seco signage; Arroyo Seco Trail Maps; New York Drive median plantings; Robinson Park Sports Complex, Jackie Robinson Field Improvements, Citywide Plant Palette.....and more!
