| On-Street Parking in Pasadena | ||
|
The City of Pasadena has a tremendous amount of on-street parking throughout the City. A majority of it is not restricted to a time limit during daytime hours, but please read any posted signs when parking. Parking is not permitted on City streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. except where posted otherwise. You should also adhere to all painted curb markings when parking on City streets. As a refresher course, we have listed the regulations associated with each of the curb markings below per PMC 10.040.20: Red: means no stopping, standing or parking at anytime. Yellow: means no stopping, standing or parking at anytime between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. of any day except Sundays for any purpose other than the loading and unloading of passengers or materials, provided that the loading or unloading of passengers will not consume more than 3 minutes nor loading and unloading of materials for more than 20 minutes. The loading and unloading of materials only applies to commercial vehicles. White: means no stopping, standing or parking for any purpose, other than loading or unloading of passengers, which does not exceed 3 minutes. Such restrictions shall apply everyday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. except Sundays and except as follows: · when such zone is in front of a hotel, the restriction shall apply at all times; · when such zone is in front of an auditorium or theater, the restriction shall apply at all times except when such auditorium or theater is closed; · when such zone is in front of a curb drop mailbox adjacent to a public sidewalk, the restriction shall apply at all times. The length of time a vehicle is permitted to park in front of a mailbox shall be limited to the time a person is actually involved in the act of depositing mail in the adjacent mailbox; · when such zone is posted or marked (by temporary or permanent signs or markings) for valet parking, the restrictions shall apply during all hours except when businesses directly behind the posted zone are closed. Green: means no standing or parking for longer than 15 minutes at any time between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. of any day except Sundays unless otherwise posted. Blue: means no stopping, standing or parking at anytime except vehicles displaying a distinguished license plate or valid placard issued to handicapped, disabled persons, and disabled veterans.
Metered Parking
Over 1,200 parking meters are operational in
three areas in the City: Old Pasadena, Civic Center, and West Gateway.
Parking meters provide an effective tool to encourage drivers to keep
parking as short as possible. This allows other drivers to use these
convenient, short-term parking spaces close to retail shops, restaurants
and other businesses in these areas.
