City of Pasadena Celebrates Latino Heritage Month

Young ladies wearing traditional Latin American dresses and performing a traditional dancePASADENA, Calif.—Join the City of Pasadena and the Latino Heritage Committee for Pasadena’s 24th annual Latino Heritage Celebrations, including the much-anticipated parade and festival on Saturday, Oct. 1. The month-long family-friendly activities and celebrations take place Sept. 16-Oct. 28.

Fiestas Patrias
Friday, Sept. 16, 5-9 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St.

The grand fiesta is back! Join the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department in commemorating the independence of 18 Latin American countries. This lively family celebration features the parade of flags, children’s activities, and crowning of the queen and court by City officials. Food will be available for purchase.

Latino Heritage Parade and Festival
Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Join local schools, community groups, elected officials, dignitaries, neighbors and friends at the 24th annual Latino Heritage Parade and Festival. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Los Robles Avenue and Prescott Street, heads south on Los Robles Avenue, and ends at Villa Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St. Immediately following the parade, enjoy a festival featuring live entertainment, educational booths, free activities for children, and food available for purchase.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade and/or festival may visit to submit a request to be a parade entrant or festival vendor.

Chocolate Skull Making
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2-5 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) sugar skull craft. Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun and unique chocolate calavera. Supplies will be provided and registration is required. Register now.

Paint and Aguas Frescas
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2-5 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St.

Join us for Paint and Aguas Frescas! Participants ages 16 and older will create their very own painting, under the instruction of an experienced artist, while enjoying a tasty cantarito of agua fresca! Art kits and aguas will be provided. Register now.

Movie in the Park, “Vivo”

Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie “Vivo.” Registration is encouraged.

Dia de los Muertos

Join friends and neighbors at Villa Parke Community Center to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is teaming up with Armory Center for the Arts and Pasadena Community Job Center to commemorate the century-old holiday with dance performances; arts & crafts; food available for purchase; and “ofrendas,” altars honoring the lives of the deceased.
