PASADENA, Calif.—The City’s Human Services and Recreation Department has some exciting events lined up to celebrate the fall season. First up is the City’s annual Fall Festival, which takes place this Saturday, October 26, from 2-6 p.m. at Victory Park, 2575 Paloma St.; followed by Día de los Muertos on Friday, November 1, from 5-8 p.m. at Villa-Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St.
Head to Victory Park this Saturday for a fun-filled afternoon with activities for the whole family. This year’s Fall Festival features performances by local community groups, including School of Rock and the After School Adventure Program’s cheer squads. There will also be inflatable sports and carnival games; dance music; face painting; train and pony rides; a tiny tot area with toys, activities and games for the youngest attendees; and more for all to enjoy!
Dress to impress for the costume procession and contest, beginning at 4 p.m. The contest includes categories for children and groups/families. No registration is required, and all costume contests are free to enter.
Admission to the Fall Festival is free, but nominal fees apply for main attractions, including pony rides, the trackless train, and food. Wristbands and tickets will be available for purchase at the festival. This year’s sponsors include Armory Center for the Arts, Options for Learning Head Start Pasadena, Pasadena Management Association, Pasadena Media and the Sri Lanka Foundation.
On Friday, November 1, join friends and neighbors at Villa-Parke Community Center to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Human Services and Recreation Department is teaming up with Armory Center for the Arts to commemorate the centuries-old holiday with dance performances; arts and crafts; food available for purchase; and “ofrendas,” altars honoring the lives of the deceased.
