JUNE AND JULY 2015 EVENTS FOR THE PASADENA CONVENTION CENTER & CIVIC AUDITORIUM; “PARTY ON THE PLAZA” RETURNS

PASADENA, Calif. – The Pasadena Convention Center and Pasadena Civic Auditorium are home to a wide variety of events throughout the year. Here is a listing of public events scheduled for June and July.

The “Party” is back!

Warm summer evenings will give way to the coolest party in town when the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Plaza again plays host to the annual Party on the Plaza Summer Concert Series featuring tributes to popular bands from not-so-long-ago.

This year’s three-show lineup will showcase an emblematic ’80s band, a tribute to David Bowie and a Journey cover group.  All three shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m.  Tickets priced at $10 for general admission and $20 and $30 for reserved table seats are available online at www.thepasadenacivic.com.

12        MICHAEL W. SMITH CONCERT

The Salvation Army presents Christian recording artist Michael W. Smith in concert. Smith is a three-time Grammy Award winner, an American Music Award Recipient, and has earned more than 40 Dove Awards. He also has recorded 29 No.1 hit songs, 14 gold albums and five platinum albums. His latest project, “Sovereign,” debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Christian Albums chart. Smith has shaped the Christian music landscape with such classic songs as “Friends,” which was named the “No. 1 song of all time” by CCM Magazine and “Healing Rain,” a powerful anthem that remains one of the best-loved songs in his extensive repertoire.

26        PARTY ON THE PLAZA SUMMER CONCERT SERIES – THE SPAZMATICS

Pasadena’s Party on the Plaza Summer Concert Series kicks off with the first of three monthly tributes performances. The Spazmatics – The Ultimate New Wave ’80s Show – gets the summer started with all the awesome sounds, styles and way-cool dance steps from the 1980s decade we’d love to forget. Complete with skinny ties, Brill-Creamed hair and horn-rimmed glasses, The Spazmatics recapture all the best of the worst. We’re gonna party like it’s 1999; only it’s not! Additional Party on the Plaza summer concerts are scheduled for July 24 and Aug. 14.

The historic location will be our ticket to racks upon racks of clothing and swimwear sizes XS-4X, as well as shoes, bags and accessories, with prices ranging from $1 to $60 (a handful of items may be $80-$100). The PUG crew will be on hand to make sure you have all the help you need, and a DJ will keep your feet tapping as you peruse the racks. Starbucks Coffee at the Convention Center will keep your energy at optimal bargain-shopping levels. Cash and credit cards are accepted, and admission is free.

24        PARTY ON THE PLAZA SUMMER CONCERT SERIES – SPACE ODDITY

Pasadena’s Party on the Plaza Summer Concert Series continues with its second tribute performance. Space Oddity – David Brighton’s Tribute to David Bowie is a brilliant live recreation of rock and roll's most electrifying performer's legendary phenomenon in rock theater. From stadium-sized pop/rock legend to rock and roll space alien Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie look-alike/sound-alike David Brighton and his all-star band chronicle all of the international superstar's Ch-Ch-Changes in electrifying Technicolor. Experience Bowiemania in this tribute. The Party on the Plaza summer concert series concludes on Aug. 14.
