PASADENA, Calif. — Following the successful launch of curbside pickup service at Pasadena Central Library, Pasadena Public Library has expanded curbside pickup service to seven of its branch libraries. Curbside pickup service is now available Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Central Library and Allendale, Hastings, Lamanda Park, La Pintoresca, Linda Vista, San Rafael and Santa Catalina Branch Libraries.
Library patrons are able to pick up previously-reserved materials at their neighborhood branch. Patrons are contacted individually via email or phone when their reserved materials are ready for pickup, and then provided instructions as to when and where to pick them up. Upon arrival at the designated library site, patrons are directed to either call or text library staff to alert them of their arrival. Using appropriate protective equipment, including face coverings and gloves, library staff then place the reserved materials on a table and step back, allowing the patron to step out and pick up the materials. Materials can also be returned in the nearby library book drops.
“This pilot project has been very successful thanks to careful planning, guidance from the Pasadena Public Health Department, and cooperation from the community with contactless pickup,” said Director of Libraries and Information Services Michelle Perera, noting that 437 patrons picked up 1,139 items during the program’s initial launch at Central Library. “Library staff are thrilled to be able to provide this service to the community.”
The curbside pickup program is for library holds only. Patrons may reserve library materials for curbside pickup online at www.pasadenapubliclibrary.net using their Pasadena Public Library card number.
Numerous library materials are also available virtually, and staff are providing reference service via phone and email. Contact library staff by phone at (626) 744-4066, option 7, or email at email@example.com.
All Pasadena Public Library buildings remain closed to the public until further notice. This closure is a precautionary measure to protect our community members from novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We thank you for your patience and understanding. For more information, call (626) 744-4066.
