{"id":1109,"date":"2014-01-21T08:43:02","date_gmt":"2014-01-21T16:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cityofpasadena.net\/city-manager\/?p=1109"},"modified":"2018-05-07T15:52:24","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T15:52:24","slug":"under-one-roof-program-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cityofpasadena.net\/city-manager\/news\/under-one-roof-program-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Under One Roof Program Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>PASADENA, Calif.\u2014A new program in 2014 offering low- to moderate-income Pasadena homeowners financial and educational assistance to help buy, keep and revitalize their homes is being offered<\/h6>\n<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 20, 2013, #005-14<\/p>\n<p><b><u>NEW \"UNDER ONE ROOF\" PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR\u00a0INCOME-QUALIFIED homeowners<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofpasadena.net\/city-manager\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2016\/06\/under-one-roof-image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1127 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cityofpasadena.net\/city-manager\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2016\/06\/under-one-roof-image.jpg\" alt=\"under one roof image\" width=\"250\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a>PASADENA, Calif.\u2014A new program in 2014 offering low- to moderate-income Pasadena homeowners financial and educational assistance to help buy, keep and revitalize their homes is being offered by Pasadena\u2019s Housing &amp; Career Services Department and the Water and Power (PWP) Department in partnership with the Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County (NHS) and GRID Alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>Income-qualified homeowners are encouraged to take advantage of these four cost-saving options that are part of the \u201cUnder One Roof\u201d program, including:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>No-cost Housing &amp; Career Services Department house painting and other home repairs<\/li>\n<li>NHS low interest rate loans and foreclosure prevention counseling<\/li>\n<li>Free or low-cost Grid Alternatives solar electric installation services<\/li>\n<li>PWP bill assistance, rebates and appliance upgrades<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customers who participate in programs from all four organizations can earn $5,000 in home efficiency improvements from PWP. \u00a0Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pwpweb.com\/UnderOneRoof\">www.PWPweb.com\/UnderOneRoof<\/a> or call (626) 744-6970 to learn more. \u00a0The new program will have an info booth at the Black History Parade &amp; Festival Feb. 15 adjacent to the Jackie Robinson Community Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Housing &amp; Career Services Department\u2019s Maintenance Assistance and Services to Homeowners (MASH) Program offers low-income homeowners no-cost home repairs, wheelchair ramp and handrail installations and lead-paint stabilization, while also providing jobs and training to local workers. \u00a0Learn more at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofpasadena.net\/MASH\">www.cityofpasadena.net\/MASH<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with the City, NHS offers free classes and services, financial assistance, affordable loans and referrals to help low- to moderate-income homeowners buy homes, improve their properties and prevent foreclosure. \u00a0Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanhs.org\/\">www.lanhs.org<\/a> or call (888) 895-2647 for details.<\/p>\n<p>GRID Alternatives provides solar electric systems at little or no cost to qualifying homeowners, reducing customers\u2019 electric bills by up to 90 percent. \u00a0Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gridalternatives.org\/pasadena\">www.gridalternatives.org\/pasadena<\/a> or call (310) 735-9770 for details.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to rebates for home efficiency improvements and free refrigerator upgrades, PWP provides bill assistance for eligible residents. \u00a0This includes an Electric Utility Assistance Program for income-qualified residents, seniors and customers with disabilities; Project A.P.P.L.E. (Assisting Pasadena People with Limited Emergencies) for customers facing one-time financial emergencies; and the Pasadena Medical Assistance Program for customers who depend on qualifying medical equipment.
