Composition

Nine members. One appointed by each of the seven Council members and the Mayor. The Mayor shall nominate one member from persons recommended by the other seven council members. Pasadena residency required. Members required to file annual Statement of Economic Interest.

Description

The primary purpose of the Code Enforcement Commission is to hear and rule on cases and appeals regarding enforcement of particular provisions in Title 6, (the “Animal Ordinance”), Title 14, (the “Pasadena Building Code for Building Construction Regulation”), Title 17, (the “Zoning Code”), Chapter 8.48, (the “Weed Abatement and Assessment Ordinance”), and Chapter 9.58 (the “Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Ordinance”) of the Pasadena Municipal Code and to order action on cases of non-compliance presented by City staff. The Commission also advises the City Council on Code Enforcement matters and animal control issues.

Term of Office

A member shall be appointed for an initial term of 3 years, and shall serve periodic three-year terms thereafter if re-nominated by the councilmember who originally nominated that member. Terms expire on June 30th of the applicable years. A member shall continue in office for the term for which he/she was appointed or until his/her successor is appointed.
