Named after the first African American Legislator in California, Frederick Roberts, the California Legislative Black Caucus Policy Institute (CLBCPI) Scholarship Program was established to assist deserving students by offering financial assistance to help meet educational expenses.
Who can apply?
- High school seniors enrolled and graduating from a school in the State of California for the 2020-2021 academic year
- Provide written proof of acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning for fall 2021
- In good academic standing
OR
- Full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited College or University
- Provide proof of high school diploma in the State of California
- In good academic standing
To be eligible for selection, candidates must:
- Complete the online CLBCPI Scholarship application form below
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Submit a personal statement essay
- What is the value of education to you?
- 750 words or less
- Two signed letters of recommendation (no exceptions)
- Dated within the last 90 days
- One from a community member not related to you
- One from a school representative
- Copy of most recent transcript
- Dated within the last 90 days
- Must show classes currently enrolled in (2nd Semester or Spring 2021)
- Proof of high school diploma from a school in the State of California (college students only)
- Recent photo of the applicant
