CITY OF PASADENA ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING AND CEREMONIAL SWEARING IN OF NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS
WHO: Presentations and recognition of service for outgoing Mayor Terry Tornek and Councilmember Margaret McAustin. Followed by administering of Oath of Office to Mayor Victor Gordo, Councilmember Tyron Hampton, Councilmember Felicia Williams, Councilmember Gene Masuda, and Councilmember Steve Madison.
WHAT: The City Clerk will submit the election results and canvass of the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election to the City Council. The Clerk will also administer the Oath of Office to newly elected and re-elected Councilmembers. The Hon. William A. Crowfoot, Judge, Superior Court of California, for the County of Los Angeles, a former Vice Mayor of Pasadena and former Pasadena City Councilmember representing District 5, will administer the Oath of Office to the new Mayor of Pasadena, Victor M. Gordo.
Additionally, per the City Charter, at “its organizational meeting, the City Council shall elect from among the Councilmembers a Vice Mayor who shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Mayor during the latter's absence or disability.” The newly elected Vice Mayor will serve the term covering the period of December 7, 2020 to December 12, 2022.
WHEN: MONDAY, DECEMBER 7 at NOON – Adopting by Resolution Election Results and end of terms for Mayor Tornek and Councilmember McAustin
At 2:00 PM – Swearing in of newly elected Mayor and City Council
Following Swearing in, the City Council will appoint from among its members a Vice Mayor.

WHY: The organizational meeting of the City Council occurs the fifth Monday after the November General Election. This meeting marks the end and start of terms for the outgoing and newly elected Mayor and City Council. The City Council’s organizational meeting also is the time for the City Council to elect from among its members a Vice Mayor.
