Pasadena, CA – On August 31, 2021, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Navarro Avenue in the City of Pasadena regarding a “Shots Fired” call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting. However, all of the involved parties of the shooting had already fled the scene. A few minutes later, the Pasadena Police Department was notified that a 42-year old Altadena resident had just arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The wound was not life-threatening.
Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery / Homicide Unit conducted follow-up investigation into this shooting incident. Their comprehensive investigation led to the identification of a suspect connected to a local criminal street gang. In addition, the detectives determined the incident was a car-to-car shooting.
On March 24, 2022, the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery / Homicide Unit, with the assistance of the US Marshalls Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Criminal Intelligence Unit, apprehended 29–year old Michael Ellis Patillo of Ontario for the above-mentioned shooting. Detectives also executed a search warrant at a residence in Ontario.
The operation and arrest led to the recovery of two firearms and the vehicle used during the commission of the August 31, 2021 shooting.
On March 28, 2022, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one felony count on Patillo for PC 664/187 (Attempted Murder). His bail was set at $1,200,000.
