PASADENA, Calif.—The City of Pasadena will be hosting a meeting to gather community input on ideas for implementation of a local cannabis social equity program. The goal of cannabis social equity is to ensure that people from communities disproportionately harmed by cannabis prohibition and discriminatory law enforcement benefit from cannabis legalization.
The City currently requires that cannabis businesses commit to investing in the impacted communities here in Pasadena. Examples include enhancing education, legal aid, youth development programs and violence prevention. This often looks like volunteering, making donations, and sponsoring local non-profit events. Adoption of a formal cannabis social equity program could require increased commitments from these local cannabis businesses.
The meeting will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11th at the Robinson Park Recreation Center located at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena. All interested persons are welcome to attend.
