Customers Who Recently Moved From Pasadena May Also Be Eligible For The City Council Approved Stimulus Rebate

The City recognizes the added financial hardship the Safer at Home Order has caused as a result of the COVID-19 health pandemic. Many current electric customers, both residents and businesses have likely received their stimulus check in the mail – and if not, should so no later than the end of May. On April 6, the City Council approved efforts to issue a rebate check to refund electric customers the collection of the Underground Surtax for the two-year period between April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020. To extend the financial relief, the City Council also took action to suspend the collection of the Utility Underground Surtax (UUG) for a period of six months.

Current PWP customers can find out how much they will be receiving, by logging on to their account. The amount of the UUG rebate will be displayed once logged on.

The City also recognizes that customers may have recently moved from Pasadena and they too, could be entitled to receive the UUG rebate if they received electric service from the City. If you know of a previous resident or business who since moved during the two-year time period, from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020, they may be eligible to receive the UUG rebate for their electric service. A claim can be filed online by visiting PWPweb.com/UUGclaim or by calling 626.744.4199. Previous customers have six months – until November 1 – to file a claim. To learn more visit PWPweb.com/UUG-FAQ.
