Historic Preservation Commission
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT THIS HEARING WILL TAKE PLACE AT A MEETING HELD PURSUANT TO GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM’S EXECUTIVE ORDER N-29-20 SOLELY BY ELECTRONIC MEANS.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The proposed project is a series of amendments to the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 17.62 of the Zoning Code and other applicable sections). The proposed amendments are intended to address community concerns and reflect best practices in historic preservation.
PROJECT LOCATION: Citywide; affects both designated historical properties and properties eligible for historical designation.
ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The Commission will be asked to consider whether the proposed amendments are categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) California Admin. Code Title 14 Chapter 3, Article 19, Class 8, Section 15308, Actions by Regulatory Agencies for Protection of the Environment. Class 8 exempts from environmental review actions taken by a regulatory agency that involve procedures for protection of the environment.
APPROVALS NEEDED: The Historic Preservation Commission will conduct a public hearing and consider the proposed Zoning Code Text Amendments and the CEQA determination on August 4, 2020. The Historic Preservation Commission will forward its recommendation to the City Council. The Planning Commission will also consider the proposed amendments and CEQA determination and forward its recommendation to the City Council at a separately noticed public hearing. The City Council will make a final decision on the proposed amendments and CEQA determination, also at a separately noticed public hearing.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing to receive testimony on the above proposed CEQA determination and Zoning Code amendment. The hearing is scheduled for:

PUBLIC INFORMATION: All interested persons are invited to participate electronically by submitting comments by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting for the Commission’s consideration. Also, during the meeting and prior to the close of the public hearing, members of the public may submit comments of up to 200 words through the City’s public comment portal which will be published on the Commission Agenda. If you challenge the matter in Court, you may be limited to raising those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing, or in written correspondence sent to the Commission or the case planner at, or prior to, the public hearing.
