Councilmember Jess Rivas

Jess Rivas has dedicated her career to public service. She previously served as a deputy attorney general with the California Department of Justice, a deputy county counsel with the County of Los Angeles, and as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve. Jess currently works in District 5 as a staff counsel for the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association. She previously served on the City’s Northwest Commission and the Commission on the Status of Women. Jess graduated from Princeton University and New York University School of Law.

Jess was appointed to the City Council in February 2021 and was elected to a full term in June 2022. She resides with her husband and daughter in Bungalow Heaven.

Longtime District 5 Councilmember Victor M. Gordo was elected in November, 2020 to serve as the Mayor of Pasadena (www.cityofpasadena.net/mayor).

A new Councilmember for District 5 will soon be appointed by the City Council.
