Finding Your Voice
Discover the healing power of writing! In this workshop, you will be led by actor, author, advocate, musician, comedian, and filmmaker Lorinda Hawkins Smith, to unearth your hidden histories and find your voice. Lorinda is a domestic violence survivor who earned her MBA while transitioning from houseless to housed. A true "artivist,” You can learn about her incredible life story in her trilogy of books: the Justice? Or...Just Me? series. Lorinda is at home combining art and social justice, and she loves to help people create beauty out of hardship using many different formats--music, poetry, performance art and fiction. Experience for yourself the catharsis that comes from creativity, and the comfort that comes from being part of a supportive group of writers! For adults only. The March class will use writing prompts inspired by Nadia Hashimi's Sparks Like Stars, our One City One Story book for 2023.
