Police and Fire Memorial Service

May 10, 2023

The City of Pasadena is hosting their annual Police and Fire Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in front of City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. The event is being held during National Police Week and marks the 12th year that City officials, police and fire personnel, and community members are coming together to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Pasadena’s first responders who died in the line of duty.

This year’s speakers include Mayor Victor M. Gordo, Police Chief Gene Harris, and Fire Chief Chad Augustin. A joint police and fire color guard team will present the colors, and Blair High School duo Madeleine Harbison and Phinn McFarland, led by Monica Benson, will sing the national anthem and “America the Beautiful.” The service will also include the ceremonial police and fire ringing of the bell.

Family members of the fallen heroes will be honored with a public reading of their loved one’s name and year of passing, an important tribute to the many families who return year after year. To date, seven Pasadena police officers and 12 firefighters have lost their lives serving the community.

Members of the public are invited to attend and support local public safety personnel who serve the community with distinction every day.
