The State of California has released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps, which identify wildfire hazard areas within both State Responsibility Areas (SRAs) and Local Responsibility Areas (LRAs). As required by State law, the City of Pasadena must adopt these maps. Before doing so, we invite public comment on the maps and their potential implications.
A local agency can make additions to or increase the area covered by the fire hazard severity zone maps. The City of Pasadena is not proposing any additions or increases in the fire hazard severity zone.
FHSZ Adoption Hearing
The City of Pasadena is required by state law to adopt by ordinance the Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps developed by the Office of State Fire Marshall within 120 days of release.
At this time, we invite public comment on the maps and their potential implications. Comments will be made part of the record when the ordinance is scheduled and presented to the City Council. The adoption of an ordinance requires two readings at two separate City Council meetings.
