Our Focus
The Foothill Workforce Development Board (WDB) serves employers and job seekers residing, working and doing business in the San Gabriel Valley. Foothill WDB makes investments in workplace skills development and job-specific training to help workers gain skills or obtain education and credentials that employer’s value. In turn, Foothill WDB builds relationships with businesses to understand their hiring needs and match them with qualified workers. The Foothill WDB maintains close relationships with vocational training schools, apprenticeship programs and colleges to make sure businesses have access to qualified, employable talent and are able to compete successfully.
Our National Network
The Foothill WDB is part of a national system of more than 550 business-led workforce boards that deliver workforce development services. There are 49 Local Workforce Development Areas in the State of California and 7 in Los Angeles County.
Our Services
The Foothill Employment and Training Connection is an American Job Center of California established by the Foothill WDB. There are two local centers in Pasadena and Monrovia. The centers serve job seekers, youth age (16-24), veterans, laid-off workers, long term unemployed, and the disabled as well as employers, business owners, chambers of commerce and economic development organizations.
Foothill WDB serves more than 40,000 job seekers each year with job search assistance, skills assessment, job placement, career counseling, labor market information, occupational training, skills development, workshops, career path exploration, on-the-job training, summer jobs, work readiness programs, and GED preparation.
The Foothill WDB business services team conducts a number of workshops to assist employers to grow their businesses. Foothill WDB provided services to over 400 employers and filled many of their open positions. When employers have to downsize, Foothill is there to assist them with transitioning their employees to other employment or training opportunities.
