Central Library is closed until further notice due to seismic safety issues.
Hastings, La Pintoresca, Lamanda Park, Linda Vista, San Rafael and Santa Catalina Branch Libraries are open for express limited in-person service. Allendale and Hill Avenue Branch Libraries are providing curbside pickup of Library materials Monday-Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Villa Parke Community Center Branch Library currently remains closed. All Pasadena Public Library meeting spaces are currently unavailable for reservation and use.
The San Rafael Branch Library opened on July 31, 1957, adding on a meeting room ten years later. The branch participates in Pasadena’s School Library Cooperative Project with San Rafael School. Branch staff can accommodate both English and Spanish speaking patrons.

San Rafael Branch Collection
The San Rafael Branch Library is a small branch circulating approximately 39,000 library items per year. The collection consists of adult and juvenile materials, featuring popular fiction and non-fiction, magazines, encyclopedias and a reference collection. Strengths of the collection are art, travel, historical homes, biographies and bestsellers. Children’s Spanish language fiction and non-fiction books are also available. A limited number of Children’s DVD titles have recently been added to the collection.
All Pasadena Public Library meeting spaces are currently unavailable for reservation and use.
The meeting room will accommodate up to 33 people. This room is free to groups who do not charge an admission fee or restrict admission on the basis of membership.
Local residents enjoy using the branch resources for recreational reading, student homework assistance and answering reference questions. Community meetings and election voting are held in the branch meeting room.
The San Rafael Associates support programs and activities at the branch, through local participation and fundraising. In 2014, the Patio Restoration Project was finally completed.
San Rafael Branch Library is pleased to offer free wireless Internet access to patrons with appropriately equipped wireless devices.
San Rafael Branch Library partners with the San Rafael Elementary School providing library instruction to classes from San Rafael Elementary School.
