Women in Food Conversation

PASADENA, Calif. – Join cookbook author Elisa Callow and moderator Leslie Ito for a conversation on “Women in Food” on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Pasadena Central Library’s Donald Wright Auditorium, 285 E. Walnut St. They will be joined by many food makers and food suppliers highlighted in The Urban Forager, whose commitment to carefully sourced and crafted food has led to a supportive and growing community of women in food. Panelists include: Leah Ferrazani, owner of Semolina Artisanal Pasta; Mary Aghoian, whose journey to Pasadena from Syria via Lebanon is a story of resilience and honoring of culture through food and family; Masako Yatabe Thomsen, Urban Forager featured chef and baker; and Amelia McDonald, farmer and purveyor at McDonald Urban Farm. Tastings will follow.

Part cookbook, part guide to foraging the best LA has to offer, The Urban Forager: Culinary Exploring & Cooking on L.A.’s Eastside is a compelling bridge to the unfamiliar, inspiring readers to enrich their culinary repertoire with delicious new discoveries. Books will be available for sale and signing.
