PASADENA, CA – September is Library Card Sign-up Month, when libraries nationwide join the American Library Association (ALA) to remind parents, caregivers, students, and community members that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to lifelong learning.
Libraries play a crucial role in the education and development of children, offering a variety of programs to spark creativity and stimulate an interest in reading and learning. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams, explore new passions and interests, and discover how limitless libraries are.
To celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month this year, the Pasadena Public Library is giving away a set of limited edition library post cards. Each set has a post card dedicated to one of our locations with a beautiful Art Deco style illustration on one side and writing space on the other. Each branch has 25 sets that will be given to the first 25 people to sign-up for a card at their locations. Along with this, new card members can go home with a Libraries are Limitless bookmark (while supplies last) to accompany their new card and any items they check out that day.
The Pasadena Public Library is an information center for the Pasadena community in order to preserve and encourage the free expression of ideas essential to an informed citizenry. A variety of highly vetted programs are presented for children and adults and they represent the research and opinions of the presenter and do not reflect an endorsement by the City of Pasadena nor the Pasadena Public Library.
