April 11, 2022: Proclamation - Arbor Day

PROCLAMATION

Whereas established in 1872, Arbor Day encourages the planting of trees in urban and wildland areas to protect, renew and manage our trees and forests, and to encourage a healthy ecosystem; and

Whereas for the 32nd consecutive year, the National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Pasadena as a Tree City USA designee and has awarded to Pasadena for the 22nd year a Growth Award for excellence in promoting urban forestry programs; and

Whereas Pasadena is committed to trees as a defining feature of this great City, and on April 30 the City will plant 25 trees in District 3 around Robinson Park through a longstanding partnership with Pasadena Beautiful Foundation; and

Whereas the event will also highlight sustainability and tree care by way of a tree planting demonstration, supervision of the volunteer tree planting efforts, and distribution of informational material;

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim April 30, 2022 in the City of Pasadena as Arbor Day.
