June 14, 2026: Proclamation - Flag Day

PROCLAMATION:

Whereas, in 1775, the Second Continental Congress created the Continental Army, Navy, and Marines, forming a united military force in the fight for independence; and

Whereas, on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence affirmed that all people are endowed with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, establishing a new nation committed to securing those rights; and

Whereas, on June 14, 1777, the Congress adopted a new flag to symbolize the union of the Colonies and the unity of the Armed Forces serving under one banner; and

Whereas, in this 250th anniversary year of the United States, the City of Pasadena honors the dedication of the U.S. Armed Forces and their continued service to our communities and our nation, represented and united by the American flag; and

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2026 in Pasadena as Flag Day.
