May 25, 2026: Proclamation - Memorial Day

PROCLAMATION:

Whereas,     for more than 250 years, the Armed Forces have safeguarded our liberty, protected our nation, and promoted peace around the world; and

Whereas,     through the courage and sacrifice of our service members and their families, the freedoms we cherish have been preserved; and

Whereas,     the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country did so in devotion to freedom, from the earliest days of our Republic to missions around the globe, so that others might live in peace; and

Whereas,     on this Memorial Day—during the 250th anniversary of our Nation’s founding—it is fitting that we honor with gratitude and pride all who died in defense of our enduring heritage of liberty; and

Whereas,     this Semiquincentennial year offers a moment to reflect on their contributions and to look ahead to future generations who will carry forward the ideals of democracy and individual liberty that define the United States;

Now, Therefore    I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council do hereby proclaim May 25, 2026 in Pasadena as Memorial Day and encourage everyone to reflect on the sacrifice of our service members and cherish the gift of liberty.
