May 6, 2024: Proclamation - Professional Municipal Clerks Week


Whereas, the Office of the Municipal Clerk, a time honored and vital part of local government, exists throughout the world and is the oldest among public servants; and

Whereas, Pasadena’s Office of the City Clerk provides a professional link between members of the community, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels; and

Whereas, Municipal Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality, impartiality, rendering of equal service to all, and serving as the information center on functions of local government and community; and

Whereas, Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of their profession  through participation in educational programs, seminars, workshops, and the annual meetings of their state, county, local, and international professional organizations; and

Whereas, during the 55th Annual Municipal Clerks Week, it is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments of our City’s Office of the City Clerk;

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of May 5-11, 2024 in Pasadena as Professional Municipal Clerks Week and further extend appreciation to our City Clerk, Mark Jomsky, for the vital services he performs and his exemplary dedication to the community.
