November 1, 2022: Proclamation - Small Business Saturday

PROCLAMATION:

Whereas according to the United States Small Business Administration, there are currently 32.5 million small businesses in the United States, small businesses represent more than 99% of companies with paid employees, and are responsible for over 60% of net new jobs created since 1995; and

Whereas small businesses employ nearly 47% of the employees in the private sector in our country, and contribute positively to the local community by supplying jobs and generating tax revenue; and

Whereas along with advocacy groups and public and private organizations across the country which have endorsed the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday, today Pasadena celebrates our local small businesses and the contributions they make to our local economy and community; and

Whereas it is important to support our City’s valued small businesses, which create jobs, boost our local economy, and preserve our neighborhoods;

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim November 26, 2022 in Pasadena as Small Business Saturday, and urge the residents of our community to support small businesses and merchants today and throughout the year.
